The Academic Transcript Evaluator is responsible for reviewing all transfer course work for new and continuing students, making academic recommendations to program coordinators and department chairs about the suitability of these courses, entering evaluations into the student information systems, and maintaining the catalog for Stevenson University Online (SUO). This position will serve as the liaison to the Registrar’s Office. In addition, this position maintains the Credit for Prior Learning option within the department.

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experience in an educational or professional setting working with student or client data information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in supporting adult non-traditional students in the higher education environment preferred.

Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.

Proficient in using Ellucian Colleague or other data information systems is required.

Ability to organize information, manage tasks and projects and use available software effectively to contribute to the department, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required; must be able to express oneself effectively within groups and one-on-one conversations

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Knowledge and understanding of academic rules and regulations.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Ability to travel between campuses.

Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (Buckley Amendment).

Local travel is a requirement of this position

Physical Requirements
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting standing, walking; talking; hearing; keyboarding and repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Subject to inside environmental conditions.

Essential Functions
Use independent judgment aligned with existing policies, practices, and procedures to evaluate traditional and nontraditional transfer credit in order to determine course equivalencies

Complete official transcript evaluations for all SUO students.

Work closely with the Registrar’s Office to maintain consistency and compliance for transfer credit, prior learning and course waiver process.

Advise prospective and current students on the nontraditional credit option including CLEP, DSST, or military and prior learning continuing education credits.

Coordinate policy, procedures, and marketing efforts related to the prior learning option.

Process all change of major, track/concentration declaration, graduate transfer credits, assignment of advisors, and deactivation requests.

Assist enrollment counselors with unofficial planners and answer questions relating to transfer courses.

Promptly responds to student and advisor questions regarding transfer credit and academic advisement

Process all course substitutions and waivers.

Maintain SUO Catalog in SmartCatalog

Develop and maintain an evaluation manual and procedure documentation

Coordinate the articulation agreement process for SUO programs.

Develop and maintain transfer guides for the community colleges.

Attend all information sessions, new student orientations and open houses related to Stevenson University Online.
