The Springfield-Green County Park Board is looking for the next Community Recreation Supervisor, assigned to the Aquatics section of the Recreation division. This assignment is in a dynamic, team-focused environment where creativity and collaboration are part of daily culture. The Community Recreation Supervisor assists in supervising a dedicated team of lifeguards, instructors, cashiers, and swim coaches in serving the public through staffing and programming 8 different aquatics facilities including two indoor pools, 5 outdoor pools, and a wading pool. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, has a keen attention to detail, demonstrates confident leadership skills, and has an eagerness to creatively engage aquatics programming through evaluation and improvement of existing programs as well as creating new ones.
American Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certifications are preferred.

The position will require a flexible schedule to cover various aquatics programs and special events and will include being on call in a rotation with other full time aquatics staff.
This position will office out of Doling Family Center.

The Park Board includes 3,200 acres and 103 sites, ranging from neighborhood playgrounds to multi-use recreational facilities to natural resource areas. The system includes four golf courses, three family centers, a zoo, a farm park, botanical gardens, several sports and athletic complexes, two indoor aquatics centers, six outdoor swimming pools, multiple School-Park sites and more than 100 miles of recreational trails - including 70 miles of Greenways.

Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Business Administration, or a closely related area;
Directly related experience in developing and supervising recreational programs may be substituted for the formal education requirement on a year-for-year basis;
Experience must be commensurate with specialty program area required for current vacancy.

Licensing/Certification
If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's license;
PREFERRED
Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP)

The following certifications as applicable to the vacancy:
(AFO)Aquatic Facilities Operator;
(ACA) American Camping Association – Camp Director Certification; (USPTR) United States Professional Tennis Registry, or (USPTA) United States Professional Tennis Association Certification;
(CTRS) Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist;
Challenge Course Manager certification.
American Red Cross Lifeguard - must be obtained within probationary period for Aquatics assignment;
Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) - must be obtained within probationary period for Aquatics assignment;
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) - must be obtained within probationary period for Aquatics assignment.
