Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

The Field Application Engineer is the technical resource for the field sales force and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the technical advisor and product advocate, the Field Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Field Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

  • Identifies sales opportunities for future growth for existing and new businesses.
  • Focuses on activities and strategies to improve results both from revenue and cost prospective.
  • Works with existing and potential customers as required, interacting with Engineering and Quality areas from Fras-le and customer.
  • Provides technical support to sales team with field test results and warranty claims.
  • Supports projects under development by Fras-le/Engineering for US customers (OE and aftermarket) as required.
  • Negotiates project modifications with the customers to comply with performance and application requirements.
  • Supports quality issues claimed by customers on US market working with Fras-le quality and engineering departments in order to provide assistance accordingly.
  • Supports testing budget forecast.
  • Provides status of ongoing and future projects.
  • Carries out field evaluations on vehicles to support Fras-le projects for US market as required.
  • Supports Fras-le engineering/testing lab on quote, purchase and shipment of testing hardware, as required.
  • Resolves customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
  • Maintains professional business relationships within target accounts.
  • Maintains expert level of product knowledge and application.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Industry knowledge of various brands of brake friction and systems

Experience with automotive, aircraft, rail braking systems recommended

FMSI (Friction Material Standards Institute) familiarity

Competitive pricing, product, marketing analysis

Technical prints interpretation

Familiar with a variety of field and market concepts, procedures and practices

Experience with customer/technical support

Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well, as interpersonal skills

Ability to travel domestically & Internationally
