Reporting to the Regional CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the Health Plan CEO will have complete income statement accountability for all commercial operations (excluding individual products).

Working with the Senior Leaders, the Health Plan CEO will identify and execute strategic initiatives designed to promote profitable growth. Market resources including Sales and Marketing, Business Development, Product Development, Underwriting, Network Development, and Operations will have reporting responsibility (direct or indirect basis) to this role. Finally, the Health Plan CEO serves as a key leader in the senior management team that links strategic planning objectives with day-to-day operational execution.

Primary Responsibilities:
Represents UnitedHealthcare to brokers, consultants, and providers and to the community.

Develops and transforms functional reports into a cohesive business team that promotes future market leaders and business owners.

Identifies and recruits active pipeline of internal and external talent into the local market.

Identifies, prioritizes, and implements national UnitedHealthcare toolsets and resources based on local market opportunities.

Directs the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and long-term plans based on objectives, initiatives, and resources of the local market.

On a periodic and formal basis, reports financial results and business initiative progress to the CEO and Executive Management.

Directs internal and external communication to ensure execution of local market initiatives.

Directs contracting opportunities that optimize UnitedHealthcare results, including both Commercial and Secure Horizons managed care and indemnity networks.

Ensures that the responsibility, authority and accountability of all colleagues reporting to the Health Plan CEO are defined, understood, and executed.

Maintains a working knowledge of product capabilities and competitiveness in the marketplace, with emphasis on execution of indemnity, alternative funding, and multi-state capabilities.

Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

Required Qualifications:
10 years experience in a leadership capacity within a health plan in the sales organization.

7+ years experience leading and managing people.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Masters Degree in Health or Business Administration preferred.

5+ years experience working in a matrix organization is preferred.
