Overview of Position:

The Cultivation Assistant provides the daily care and focused attention necessary to produce medical cannabis of the highest quality for our patients. The successful candidate will possess a passion for controlled environment agriculture and a willingness to continually learn more about the subject. This position offers the opportunity to learn and grow with the company from the ground up, and to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time. All candidates must be 21 and able to pass a Level 2 Background Check with the Fl Department of Health. The main responsibilities of the Cultivation Assistant include all aspects of the daily care of medical cannabis plants from propagation to harvest; managing environmental variables to ensure optimal plant health and maximize products of medicinal compounds; and maintaining stringent standards of cleanliness, sanitation and overall biosecurity in and around the cultivation areas of AltMed Florida.

  • Plant Healthcare

-Implements daily feeding & care schedule as directed by the Master grower or Cultivation Manager.
-Maintains consistency, uniformity and accuracy when performing crop care at all stages of growth.
-Conducts routine visual inspection of plants to ensure early identification and correction of nutrient deficiencies or pest problems and reports findings to the Master Grower or Cultivation Manager.
-Manages crop propagation to meet inventory requirements as directed by Director of Production

  • Facility and equipment maintenance

-Calibrates, cleans and stores pH/PPM meters. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all tools and equipment, including but not limited to: shop vacs, pumps, hoses, carts, scissors, stools, gloves, rags, and safety glasses.

  • Miscellaneous

-Assists in completing other secondary cultivation tasks at the direction of the Master Grower or Cultivation Manager according to company needs.
-Follows all aspects of the workplace safety program, biosecurity program, and compliance with all rules and regulations o Maintains a clean, safe environment inside the cultivation area

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
2 years’ post-secondary education in horticulture, agriculture, biology, chemistry or related field preferred

Work History Required:

Showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept additional projects or challenges 1+ year experience in agriculture, horticulture, botany, or related field strongly preferred Required Knowledge. Knowledge of basic computer & office equipment operation, including Microsoft Office. Knowledge of plant biology or chemistry related to plant nutrition an advantage

Physical Requirements:
-Tolerance for extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for a distance of 100 feet

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 to $18.00 /hour
