POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Engineer supports and manages projects from product brief creation to mass production. This role is primarily defined by two major responsibilities: Technical Leader and Project Manager for New Product Development projects. This position requires broad technical prowess, a high degree of tactful, clear, communication. The Senior Project Engineer has ultimate ownership of and accountability for project timing and outcomes, and serves as the link between multiple active projects and various internal and external stakeholders.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Own and manage complex projects requiring extensive long term planning, development, and validation.
Execute projects within the framework of Boa’s Product Development processes, tools, and templates, while always seeking and suggesting opportunities for the continuous improvement of those processes.
Effectively manage, motivate, and inspire a cross-disciplinary team including Design Engineering, Industrial Design, Prototyping, and Testing resources.
Generate and maintain control of the project master schedule, managing resources appropriately and effectively to meet project deadlines.
Coordinate deliverables, both from within the immediate project team and from other Boa departments or employees (such as Sales, Marketing, Product Marketing etc.).
Proactively engage in and lead ongoing communication with stakeholders, vendors, and contract manufacturers.
Leverage creative problem solving methods to develop products that deliver meaningful, value-add benefits to end users.
Conduct risk assessments and manage overall timing and prioritization of tasks and activities.
Direct and participate in component failure analysis and resolution.
Provide part design support and direction.
Conduct design review for manufacturability, installation, and function.
Manage, define, and execute internal testing of assigned projects, either directly hands-on, or in conjunction with Boa testing resources.
Conduct data review, analysis, and presentation.
Manage and support tooling construction in Asia.
Coordinate and oversee Asian-based pilot runs and production ramp-up efforts as required for mass-production readiness.
Facilitate the growth of the company’s relationship with brand partners by supporting joint efforts in product development.
Perform other duties as assigned and as the company and product development team evolve.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
3+ years of New Product Development project management experience. PMP certification is a plus
6+ years of product development experience. Consumer product industry a plus
Experience with mechanism and plastic part design
Experience in plastics and metals manufacturing in Asia
Proficient at Solidworks (or equivalent) CAD modeling. FEA experience is a plus
Hands-on laboratory and/or field testing experience
Experience working with overseas contract manufacturers
Willingness to travel to Asia and/or conduct calls with stakeholders in other time zones after business hours
