AXA is seeking a Sr. Life Underwriter to join their team!
This person will be responsible for reviewing complex, multi-impaired kind of risk and long-term care involving complex financial scenarios. This person will work with brokerage agencies, wholesalers: reviewing a mix of different applications from quick quotes to formal applications to informal applications.
Day in the Life:
70% of the position is reviewing an average of 10-15 cases per day of informal applications involving medical records. (Quick quotes are not counted in the average)
Average time to review an informal application is 30-60 minutes; average time to review a formal application can be anywhere from 10-60 minutes
Appraise and underwrite applications for insurance to assess mortality and morbidity risk within company guidelines to assure equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company's financial objectives.
Approve, classify or decline applications on own signature; includes qualifications outlined in the job description.
Provide guidance to the field force and home office staff regarding underwriting philosophy and requirements.
Enhanced field relationship management.
Basic EKG interpretation skills.
4+ years’ Life Underwriting experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Earned FALU and FLMI designations
- Passed or willing to pass an EKG training course and established proficiency in EKG interpretation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team in a constantly-changing environment
5+ years’ Life Underwriting experience
