The Process Engineering department is part of the Drug Delivery manufacturing operations group. Process engineering work includes project conceptualization, project design-machine design, development of alternatives, project scheduling and control, and project installation and implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional engineering teams through the planning, execution, and planning of manufacturing support and process improvement projects. Define scope of work; manage a variety of complex issues in associated projects, plans and schedules.
Support manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives for solution container and disposable products. Includes technical problem solving and product/manufacturing process characterization with a cross-functional team.
Utilize engineering tools (e.g. DMAIC, FMEA, Design of Experiments, Statistical Analysis, etc.) to address product continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes at domestic and global locations.
Utilize engineering principles to manage department design work for machine components including packaging equipment with robotics, filling machines with servo-drives, mixing equipment, and the control of this equipment.
Provide Manufacturing Engineering support, including process improvements, material, design, and product/process changes, design verification, and manufacturing trials.
Assist Facilities Engineering to implement and maintain energy management program across facility and equipment, including categorizing usage, inspections, record keeping and reporting, and other compliance activities required to meet reduction objectives and local, state & federal environmental regulations.
Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure project release.
Review and analyze proposals to determine benefit/cost. Prepare project cost estimates. Monitor project expenditures and cost tracking.
Set policy and define procedures for staff in accomplishing and documenting projects, including Enterprise Management System (EMS).
Support projects and manufacturing functions on a 24/7 basis.
Must be able to participate or lead teams through the execution of multiple smaller projects or a defined larger project. This includes preparing detailed project schedules, project cost estimates, or interfacing with other technical support groups or engineering groups.
The position will work closely with mechanics, engineers, and other managers. Must be able to work with consultants, contractors, and trades employees as projects are designed or installed. Must be able to coordinate and supervise the activities of mechanics and contractors.
Must be able to communicate with upper levels of plant management concerning status of engineering projects and upper management in other divisions of Baxter or other business units for whom the Process Engineering department would design and construct process systems.
Must plan, justify, and prepare capital authorization requests for Process Engineering projects.
A familiarity/working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles in the analysis of technical problems and in the management of daily engineering activities is a plus.
Proven leadership skills and engineering problem solving ability.
Ability to apply statistical and engineering techniques to solve complex problems.
Skills and aptitude to support troubleshooting of equipment and manufacturing processes; Green or Black belt preferred.
Ability to present and communicate results and recommendations to project teams and decision makers.
Ability to balance theoretical knowledge with empirical results.
Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation.
Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously.
Proven track record of management/leadership effectiveness.
Education and/or Experience
BS in relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred, 10 or more years experience
