Job Summary:
With minimal direct supervision, the incumbent is responsible to assist, enhance & drive Gosiger’s efforts related to intensive engineering projects with both end-users and suppliers. This position is accountable for pre-sales engineering duties & some post sales project management required to promote, sell, and implement our more complex systems and service solutions.
The incumbent takes direction from the Project Development Manager and is expected to work closely with the West Coast Sales group as well as A.E., Service & E.S.D. Mgt.
Essential Accountabilities and Measures:
- Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of part processing, programming, tooling, fixturing, materials, industry trends, etc.
- Maintains a working familiarity with associated suppliers as well as competitors, competitive products, and competitors’ methods to help Gosiger establish and retain a leadership position on the cutting edge of technology.
- Is primarily responsible to work with the sales team to qualify, progress and promote projects involving a high degree of engineering services.
Specific project criteria for this type of work is as follows:
- complex components
- projects involving engineering support related to part process or machine fit
- part specific “turnkey” projects
- projects w/ cycle time acceptance requirements
- projects w/ quality or accuracy acceptance requirements
- projects w/ dedicated automation requirements
- projects requiring OEM spec. compliance (ie Boeing, Navy, etc)
- projects requiring intensive pre-sales engineering work (layouts, process work, etc)
- projects requiring solid modeling & animation/simulation work
- projects w/ special work holding/fixturing requirements
- projects w/ extensive pre-sales technical proposal & presentation work
- projects requiring pre-sales demonstration of complex, creative & challenging machining solutions
- projects requiring extensive pre-sales or project related builder support and assistance based on special customer requests and/or requirements
- complex projects requiring a technical liaison between sales, engineering, E.S.D., Automation & Service
- projects in need of above average post sales project management and support
Sr. management to determine which projects fit this project criteria in early stages of any new program.
This individual is primarily responsible for pre-sale project activities. However, also manages critical projects with active involvement through installation & acceptance to ensure customer satisfaction, timeline management and program continuity.
- Serves as a front line engineering support agent for Gosiger Sales (outside sales & SPE duties) as well as our Engineering & Service groups. Assumes a “total technical management role” and oversees any engineering related cost estimates, project proposals, presentations, technical selling, etc. In this realm, strives to help the Gosiger team increase unit sales and market share.
- Ensures ongoing communications between the end user, supplier partners and Gosiger team members throughout the course of engineering intensive projects.
- Maintains a strong teamwork relationship with all Gosiger team members as well as supplier personnel.
- Develops and maintains strong end-user customer relationships and cultivates relationships with prospects.
- Responsible for maintaining technical, commercial, and interpersonal communications skills through continuous development.
- Attends and actively participates in supplier and company training programs where appropriate.
- As a member of the Gosiger Sales Team; trains, assists, and supports other team members within Gosiger in the areas of problem solving and meeting division/company goals.
- Continuously reviews current processes and searches out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste.
- Based on business need, assists/supports in other job functions within department, division and/or company within scope and ability. Assumes accountability and responsibility for assigned projects and programs.
Essential Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with machine tool operation and programming / process engineering / tooling and work holding concepts / strong mechanical/technical aptitude.
- Superior interpersonal communication skills, professional demeanor and relationship building abilities.
- Excellent written & verbal skills
- Inquisitive nature, willing and able to ask questions of customers, suppliers, and team members necessary to assimilate meaningful, engineering solutions.
- Honesty, personal integrity, and the personal initiative necessary to work independently without direct supervision or oversight.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to think independently and express/convey new thoughts and alternative methods.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and time management.
- Demonstrated application of basic computer skills. Willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong initiative, competitive nature, and strong goal orientation. Must have excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work with minimum supervision

- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- The incumbent must maintain business expenses within budget and/or reasonable limits.
