GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Bookkeeper, a member of the Student Involvement and Leadership Development (SILD) team, ensures the organization's financial resources are utilized to maximum impact by performing a variety of tasks to include accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management. The bookkeeper will prepare and maintain accounting documents, process accounting, and procurement transactions for SILD, as well as for student organizations on the Framingham State University campus. A successful SILD Bookkeeper is detail-oriented, analytical, have a flair for numbers, excited by systems, and eager to learn and has strong experience working with student leaders and organizations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees SILD's business processes- including purchase orders, travel reimbursements, and other SILD related procurements
Acts as primary purchaser for student organizations, SILD, and Student Engagement
Assists SILD in training of student leaders in areas of financial policy, business processes, and procurement; including participating in Student Officer Workshops, one-on-one trainings, and handbook development
Supports Assistant Dean in budgetary matters, and data management
Manages Petty Cash process- including reviewing of requests, deposits, reconciling, tracking of funds, and facilitating audit processes
Process vendor invoices, records, and applicable financial documents to insure swift payment, and communication
Maintains and updates office budgetary documents
Alongside the SILD Operations Coordinator, acts as a resource to the Framingham State Business Office in coordinating financial processes
Supports SILD in management of travel and conference funds

General

Acts as an active member of the SILD team, including in areas of supporting event coverage, and key SILD programmatic initiatives
Actively contributes to a working environment that promotes optimism, collaboration, respect, solutions-conscious dialogue, and exceptional service to everyone
Ensures general compliance with University policies on such matters as attendance, use of compensatory time, and overtime
Serves on various standing and/or special committees of the University as assigned

Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Exceptionally detail-oriented and accountable, with experience in data entry and general math skills
Knowledge of basic principles of accounting, and generally accepted accounting principles
Ability and integrity to handle large sums of money
Enthusiasm for student leadership, and student engagement on a university campus
Experience working with undergraduate students, and in a higher education setting
Experience in working alongside student organizations/clubs on a college/university campus
At least two years' experience in accounting, including cash receipts, account receivable, and invoice management
Experience working with databases, including data entry, and customized querying/reports
Flexibility and ability to move in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle confidential material judiciously
Ability to facilitate conversations amongst students
High comfort level navigating a wide range of discussions with students
Ability to express self in oral and written communications professionally, and as a role model to student leaders
Ability to work effectively with professional, non-professional, and student personnel
Ability to work with a diverse workforce and student population
Confidence in making administrative/procedural decisions that fall in line with best practice, and professional candor
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and G Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of bachelor's degree
Valid driver's license

Additional Information:
This is a part-time, non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours/week. The hourly rate is $16.00.
