Cost Accountant job summary
Responsible for monitoring the cost of labor by monitoring hours against staffing and production schedules.
Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports for submission to management.
Conduct inventory analysis monthly and generate reports for senior management.
Review rates of depreciation, labor and overhead and suggest policy changes for continuous improvement.
Classify costs accurately.
Generate variance reports and analyze findings.
Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate.
Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses for changing vendors.
Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Cost Accountant qualifications and skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
3 years’ experience in cost accounting
Experience in a manufacturing facility required
