The Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) is an independent agency of the Commonwealth which conducts protective service investigations of abuse of adults with disabilities; oversees those investigations conducted by other agencies and oversees the remediation of cases of abuse. The DPPC is looking for Investigators to conduct abuse investigations consistent with M.G.L. c. 19C and 118 CMR, the DPPC statute and regulations.
**Candidate with a Central MA location would be preferable.**
Conducts adult protective service (APS) investigations consistent with DPPC statute and regulations
Conducts interviews and collects physical/ documentary evidence as needed
Follows appropriate procedures for preserving evidence
Verifies information obtained in order to establish accuracy and authenticity of facts
Prepares investigation reports and makes appropriate protective service recommendations
Confers with oversight officers regarding Protective Service Plans as required
Coordinates with EOHHS agency staff, vendor staff, law enforcement officials and other state agency staff as needed in conducting investigations and in developing Protective Service plans
Makes referrals to other agencies and professionals when necessary.
Performs other related duties such as maintaining records, attending meetings, preparing correspondence as required and assigned
Experience conducting protective service/abuse investigations
Demonstrated ability to positively and effectively interact with individuals with disabilities
Demonstrated ability to effectively interview victims of abuse with disabilities
Knowledge of the dynamics and traumatizing impact of abuse on victims
Knowledge of accepted protective service investigation practices and investigative report writing
Knowledge of the service providing systems in place for persons with disabilities
Ability to assess risk of abuse and to develop practical and effective plans to remedy identified risk
Ability to work independently and to meet timelines
Possession of outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to travel throughout the Commonwealth
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and crisis-oriented environment
At least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in conducting protective service investigations in a human services environment
A Bachelors Degree in a related field may be used to substitute for one year of investigation experience
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's License

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.*
