The Civil Markets and San Diego (CSD) Group is responsible for a broad range analytical, engineering, independent assessments, strategic planning, and technology research, development, testing and evaluation (RDT&E) programs in support of new SPA markets.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8 years of experience with at least 3 years’ experience working in communications, marketing, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the consistent ability to present ideas and communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent attention to details and conscientious in adhering to deadlines and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Experience with using digital outreach and social media channels to engage stakeholders a plus.
  • Experience with a range of writing styles, including marketing plans, speech writing, fact sheets, formal correspondence, campaigns, and leadership messaging desired.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret (TS) level clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.

Job Description:
The Strategic Communications Specialist will provide strategic communications and marketing expertise in support of CSD’s customers at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The individual will work in a fast paced, multifunction team with other contractor staff and must be able to multi-task. The Strategic Communications Specialist will work closely with the Government client supporting a wide range of inter- and intra-Department initiatives associated with the protection of the Nation’s Critical Infrastructure. The Specialist will help DHS develop plans, materials, presentations and talking points to support communications to broad audiences including Capitol Hill, Department Leadership, media, the Public, and Federal, State and local stakeholders.
This position is located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Job duties/responsibilities:
  • Communications and Outreach
o Develop and implement communication plans, messages, materials, and strategies to ensure outreach to diverse audiences.
o Develop and integrate digital media strategies to support client initiatives and objectives.
o Mature an assortment of clear and succinct communications products and materials for internal or external audiences.
o Provide innovative solutions to client’s communications challenges or problems.
o Support day-to-day media and stakeholder outreach.
o Assist with conference and event planning and preparation.
o Prepare and review presentations, reports, and briefings for Government Program Managers.
o Work with graphic design/production team to ensure communications products have high impact look and feel.
  • Corporate
o Assist with the development of Company Information Products to include press releases, publications, information sheets and brochures.
o Represent CSD in SPA Communications Working Group and inform plans for overhaul of company website and social media presence. As applicable, develop CSD content for inclusion on these platforms.
