General Purpose: The Civil Engineer will be involved with the design, development and construction of a huge range of projects in the built and natural environment. The central role is to ensure the safe, timely and well-resourced completion of projects in many areas, including highway construction, waste management, coastal development and geotechnical engineering. You will be responsible for working with clients to plan, manage, design and supervise the construction of projects. You will work in a number of different settings and, with experience, will be able to run projects as project manager. You may also be required to monitor the quality of work and safety on site in conjunction with contracting engineers. Within civil engineering, as the consulting engineer, you are the designer; as the contracting engineer, you must be able to turn your plans into reality. As the consulting civil engineer, you will provide a wide range of services to clients.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities (These duties listed are not exhaustive.)

As the consulting civil engineer, provide a wide range of services to clients undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations
Develop detailed designs
Assess the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles
Supervise tendering procedures and putting together proposals
Manage, supervise, and visit contractors on site and advising on civil engineering issues
Liaison effectively with architects, subcontractors, contracting civil engineers, consultants, co-workers and clients
Communicate effectively with colleagues, other departments and staff from other companies
Thinking creatively to resolve design and development problems
Manage budgets and other project resources
Managing change, as the client may change their mind about the design, and identify, formalize and notify relevant parties of changes in the project
Lead teams of other engineers, perhaps from other organizations or firms
Compile, checking and approving reports
Review and approve project drawings
Use a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex and repetitive calculations
Schedule material and equipment purchases and delivery
Attending public meetings and displays to discuss projects, especially in a senior role
Adopt all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design, good manufacturing practices and safety on all work assignments
Ensure that a project runs smoothly and that the structure is completed on time and within budget
Correct any project deficiencies that affect production, quality, and safety requirements prior to final evaluation and project reviews
Education & Training

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited school with 5 + years of experience.

Must have a P.E. License.

Working Conditions: Will work in inside and outside environments and require some overnight stay when working projects involving offsite projects and locations.
