What You’ll Get to Do:
Work in a full-service ISO accredited digital forensics laboratory supporting law enforcement investigations and litigations. You will assist supported customers with the collection, preservation, processing, and analysis of electronic data from desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, physical and virtual servers, and Cloud storage locations.
More About the Role:
Under general supervision, will serve on a range of complex program activities requiring application of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for assessment of complex management processes, systems, and support programs. Serves as the primary evidence custodian for a forensics laboratory. 'Responsible for the maintenance of evidence room security. Responsible for receipt of evidence from client and/or the seizing authority and reviews documents to assure proper preparation for submission to the laboratory, directing any revisions needed to be performed by the submitting party to correct deficiencies. Enforces the policies and procedures governing the submission of evidence into the laboratory. Responsible for ensuring that all requesting documents are properly completed prior to evidence release; that internal accountability documents are properly annotated to reflect transactions; and evidence that is not distributed via hand-to-hand transfer is properly packaged, addressed, and documented. Responsible for preparing inventory control logs for received evidence. Maintains evidence inventory control logs on Evidence Control System. Responsible for the proper placement and retrieval of evidence. Records transfer of evidence in accordance with laboratory records systems. Retains evidence access control documents and controls/secures access to evidence storage space. Stores evidence until needed by examiners. Packages and ships evidence to contributing clients for return or disposition. Provides secure storage for case files. Responsible for participates in the disposition and /or destruction of evidence. Rearranges evidence to meet space limitations as evidence is received or disposed of by destruction or transfer. May suggest changes to policies and procedures to improve evidence handling and related operating procedures. Follows appropriate Standards of Operating Procedures (SOPs) and satisfies appropriate training, competency testing and proficiency testing requirements to conduct independent work in support of the examination process.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or previous work experience relating to responsibilities associated with handling evidentiary material. Sufficient experience in lieu of a degree can be approved by the COR. 2 to 4 years of related evidence handling/management experience.
