This position will lead the nutrition support, and procurement functions supporting the food service operations at the Chicago Public Schools Dining account. This account has 650+ operating locations producing over 100 million meals a year, generating $300M in annual food revenue. Primary lead / liaison reporting to the CPS Vice President of Operation in all areas relating to USDA Regulatory requirements, district health and wellness policies, training and MWBE relations.
Lead the nutrition and dietary functions to include but not limited to menu planning, USDA nutritional / regulatory requirements, CPS Health and Wellness programing and MWBE relations.
Lead the development, compliance approval, and direction of menu programs in conjunction with the CPS Senior Director client.
Oversight and responsibility to inform, advise and indirectly manage the CPS Nutrition Support Services (NSS) leadership in regards to menu compliance to USDA and NSS Wellness Policy.
Responsible for the overall Nutrition program for over $300M in annual managed volume.
Proactively and consistently interface with and engage with client and client support team.
Lead the incubation and proof of concept of Aramark OpX initiatives regarding sector initiatives with innovation, nutritional issues and fresh concepts.
Document observations and recommendations with formal reporting methods for client and internal audiences.
Interface with RVP, Staff VPs, other division management, directors and their staff.
Build effective partnerships with Regional and Corporate support functions
Representation and outreach to large urban public school districts for K-12 best practice development.
Representation to organizations and associations such as Urban School Alliance, Healthy Schools and other influential groups.
Develop and lead implementation of procurement and centralized purchasing process for all food services while maintaining compliance of guidelines.
Responsible for managing commodity requirements, interacting, communicating and negotiating with government agencies.
Manage and maintain WebSMARTT/Mosaic implementation.
Standards and Training:
Coordinate USDA, CBA and contractual training for 2700 CPS food employees including safety, operational, environmental and soft skills training. Ensure development and implementation of training.
Support Food Productivity Framework by driving implementation of center led initiatives
Utilize technical expertise to evaluate Aramark’s operating program standards, measure performance and recommend solutions in order to enhance or improve operations.
Oversee IT function and deployment of programs pertaining to USDA and Menu requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field with 10+ years of comprehensive food service operations experience required.
Extensive leadership experience in menu development, dietetics, regulatory compliance, menu / food cost management, and training and development.
Keen prioritization skills, task completion and follow through required with multiple projects simultaneously. Highly developed interpersonal analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential to success in this role.
Strong teaching skills, planning and organizational skills required.
Ability to lead and direct a group of functional team members.
Strong client relations skills as well as the ability to lead in a complex / matrixed organization are essential to success in the role.
Highly effective change leadership skills are essential to success in the role.
Ability to communicate to clients, public and students.
