ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY

The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Athletics Sports Fields, the primary responsibility of this position is to repair and maintain vehicles and equipment such as trucks, golf carts, automobiles, heavy equipment, and grounds keeping equipment. Other duties are, but not limited to: grinding and back lapping of reel mowers- repair and replace engines, transmissions, blowers, motors, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, and fuel injection systems on vehicles and equipment- rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels- realign and rebuild brake systems, align front ends, replace shock absorbers, and repair radiators- performs welding on engines, frames, and bodies of vehicles and equipment. Maintain an equipment maintenance program, order parts, track inventories and record checkbook balances. Maintain and forecast monthly costs through budget allowances. Must be able to understand University requirements for competitive pricing and recognize fair market values in cost proposals received. May supervise/delegate duties to other mechanics or maintenance workers. Completes work orders, tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires completion of an approved apprenticeship program for one or more trades; or a high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.
