SCAD seeks a maintenance technician to assist in the upkeep of the more than 70 historic yet state-of-the-art SCAD facilities throughout Savannah. Much of the university has been woven into the fabric of one of the largest and most renowned National Historic Landmark districts in the United States, and SCAD has been recognized for its adaptive reuse and urban revitalization by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the American Institute of Architects, and the International Downtown.
In this position, you will work with a highly skilled team of technicians, under the direction of a superintendent, to perform daily building walkthroughs, assess items that require mechanical or electrical improvements, and execute major and minor building repairs. You will perform maintenance on light fixtures (bulbs, ballasts, lenses, etc.), ensure that emergency lighting and exit signs are always operable, and help in other areas such as plumbing, support, HVAC, etc. You will also complete work order requests, document problems that need correction, and advise the superintendent when repairs from other craftspeople are necessary.
The ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must adhere to all OSHA regulations and safety practices and be on call as emergency situations arise.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Three or more years of experience in a commercial setting providing general maintenance and repairs
