Job Summary

Manager, Procurement Operations (MPO) is a key management member of the team reporting into Senior Director, Catgeory Management & Procurement Operations and will be responsible for managing a team of 7 Procurement Specialists responsible for managing End-to-End P2P (Procure to Pay) process within the ERP System. In addition, MPO is expected to drive productivity via various lean, six sigma & process improvement activities.
MPO oversees the project coordination and transactional procurement for all Walgreens business units. This includes aligning all supporting functions needed for the procurement process such as various end user business groups, Accounts Payable, IT, Procurement Development, Finance, Tax, Category Managers, and external suppliers. The tasks of the procurement operation team include, but not limited to, receive and place ePro orders from all Walgreens stores, issue POs for requisitions above 25 lines, PO change orders, invoice issue coordination, catalogue maintenance, and perform system trainings to end users/suppliers.
MPO is responsible for managing & improving the purchasing order process, Improving efficiencies for end-to-end purchase order issuance, Offer issue resolution and oversee business help desk support, Coach & Mentor the team members for optimal team performance, and leading strategic planning procurement sessions. MPO proactively uncovers opportunities to create value, ensuring the most efficient use of the system to reduce the total time spent on the transactional procurement.
The team also conducts basic sourcing activities with RFIs, RFPs and works in sync with the Category Management Teams who are responsible for various Goods Not for Resale Categories. MPO provides the team guidance, coaching & training on sourcing methodology, project management, stakeholder communications and supplier negotiations.
MPO works closely with Procurement Development team to ensure user adoption of the Advanced ERP system. In addition, MPO will collaborates with Directors on the Catgeory Management Side to ensure holistic execution of category strategies through the help of operations team.

Job Responsibilities

People Management:
Establishes and manages project plans including goals, strategy, resource scheduling, and timelines.
Provides mentorship and career development guidance to the team members
Function as escalation point on operational issues
Assign projects/tasks effectively to team members based on strengths/weakness and career aspiration, to ensure high engagement of team members and high level of job satisfaction
Monitor and manage team’s operational metrics to ensure high level of customer services and to optimize the team’s performance

Functional Support:
Manages and sets the strategy for the daily end-to-end requisition and PO issuance process within eProcurement (within the Oracle ERP system) and aligning all supporting functions needed.
Coordinate and lead training and technology enablement efficiently in order to ensure that all users (internal and external) are proficient in the P2P processes, while balancing team workload.
Manages the Procurement Operation team and is responsible for providing the post rollout support for e-procurement system. Key leader for management and direction of program.
Analyzes existing systems/processes to determine more efficient processing methods or to communicate to internal and external users
Provides direct management support, designing the training required for the automated e-Procurement process. Functions as the overall process manager.
Maintains close communications with Category Manager community, as well as key internal requisitioning groups, to ensure consistent and timely messages are distributed internally
Standardize the processes, communications, and operation procedures performed by Procurement Operation team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
Take leadership role in identifying deficiencies of procurement or non-procurement functions, contributing to Walgreens overall comp loss goals

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Systems, Accounting or Finance and at least 2 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years’ experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics
At least 1 years of experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve issues and problems
Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.
Experience using ERP systems, such as Oracle or SAP.
Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
Advanced level skill in Microsoft Access (for example: modifying default field properties, creating a subform, adding a control button, modifying query criteria and query totals, using conditional formatting and/or viewing data relationships).
Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: changing picture styles, customizing animation and/or setting automatic slide timings).
At least 1 year experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.
Experience working in procurement or purchasing role.
Knowledge of the procurement lifecycle and professional procurement best practices.
