The Distribution Systems Administrator’s role is to monitor and operate the organization’s multiple warehouse management system platforms through implementation of best practices. This includes solutioning, installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining the company’s investments in Warehouse Management System technologies and their peripherals, and other supporting and ancillary Distribution systems. This role has the responsibility for non-functional configuration, security configuration, tech stack monitoring, triage, peripheral connectivity, and support using enterprise tools for active monitoring of system health (this list is not intended to be inclusive, but rather represents some of the more commonly supported components). The role will participate in providing non-functional system metrics and KPI’s, overall system capacity planning, and DR and HA planning and implementation, as well as lend support to other enterprise teams for client configuration, Citrix, networking, and other services in use to deliver an end-to-end solution.

Evaluates, installs, configures, deploys, and maintains applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the distribution enterprise. This includes the JDA WMS solution and its software suite, Vocollect Voice, ProcessWeaver Shipping Information Gateway, and Pyramid Director Systems. Device and client integration to SAP EWM is also needed.
Coordinates design and deploy activities with the various cloud teams to ensure all new systems are built in, and all old systems are migrated to, the Azure Cloud Ecosystem.
All vested parties to develop the optimal solution and stand up initial environments, and support the transition through its SDLC from development to full scale production.
Analysts, developers, QA teams, designers, and system owners in the testing of software programs and applications.
Network administrators and software engineers to assist with design specs, program logic, and data conversions.
Enterprise Monitoring to provide sufficient monitoring and alerts for defined processing, SLAs, etc.
Proactively manages system resources in partnership with various enterprise teams to assure maximum system performance and appropriate system capacity for peak periods and growth.
Creates and maintains detailed, up-to-date technical documentation in a team repository.
Works with Costco Infrastructure and Networking teams to provide support for both current and future solution landscapes.
Responsible for continued personal growth in the areas of technology, business knowledge, and upholding Costco’s security and governance policies.
Provides initial solutioning/support structure for peripheral integration: RF devices, voice devices, mobile tablets, printers, etc.
General understanding of large enterprise systems on Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems.
Experience with installing and configuring large enterprise applications on Linux or Windows Servers.
Strong focus on design, build, deployment, security, system optimization, and customization
Experience with both Windows (2012 through 2019) and Linux Operating Systems (RHEL 6 and 7).
Experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Experience with PERL, shell, and/or PowerShell scripting.
Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be able to operate independently with a high threshold for dealing with uncertainty, while simultaneously collaborating with various functional and technical teams.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Must be able to work with limited supervision and exhibit a strong sense of urgency.
General knowledge of client-server systems, preferably in the distribution category (WMS, TMS, etc.)
Good understanding of corporate IT policies, procedures, standards and service level commitments.
Periodic off-hours work required, including weekends and holidays. 24 x 7 on-call support on a rotation.
Participation in off-site design and rollout activities, as well as validations of solutions (including DR/HA tests).
Travel, including to Canada, required to support multiple projects.
SAP EWM and JDA WMS systems.
Windows client technologies.
Understanding middleware technologies and messaging systems.
At least one full cycle implementing a major software application.
Knowledge of enterprise-level applications, including ERP and large-scale enterprise architectures.
Designing and implementing end-to-end solutions.
Peripheral installation, configuration, customization, and triage.
Cloud installations or migrations, preferably Azure.
Automation tools and scripting.
