The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural & Cultural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation have various Seasonal full and part time positions for the 2019 Summer season at Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain, Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, Echo Lake Beach, Flume Gorge and Lafayette Place Campground.

Echo Lake Beach

Lifeguard I – Salary Grade 6 $12.53

Scope of Work:To perform water safety activities for patrons at a state park, beach, recreational facility, or institution.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of one year of high school or high school equivalency.

Experience: No experience required

License/Certification: Must possess a current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate or other equivalent water safety and first aid credentials.

Franconia Notch State Park

Chauffer – (Shuttle Driver) Salary Grade 7 $ 12.87 (1st and 2nd shifts weekends)

Scope of Work: To perform routine duties involving the transportation of persons or materials by vehicle, acting as a chauffeur or guide.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or high school equivalency credential

Experience: One year of experience as a driver of a passenger-type motor vehicle.

License/Certification: Must possess a valid operator’s license. The applicant’s motor vehicle record must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency, to include no moving violations within the last two years. Must show proof of or must successfully complete a state authorized defensive driving course during the probationary period.

Cannon Mountain

Cannon Mountain Trail Crew - (Laborer) Salary Grade 5 $12.16

Scope of Work: Perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks at State Parks and State Park Facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Skill: Requires minimum skill performing a series of routine procedures or in operating equipment according to standardized instructions.

Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent

Experience: No experience required

Groundsman – Salary Grade 7 $12.87

Scope Of Work: To perform maintenance duties in the care of grounds at various State Parks properties, including the planting and maintenance of lawns, flower beds and shrubs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of two years of high school or equivalent.

Experience: One year of experience in groundskeeping work.

License/Certification: Valid New Hampshire driver's license if required to plow snow and sand driveways and walkways.

Special Requirements:
1. Must have the ability to communicate with the public in a courteous, diplomatic, and professional manner.

2. Must be able to do light to medium work, including continuous walking or operating simple equipment for extended periods of time as well as occasional strenuous activities such as reaching, climbing, or bending; must have ability to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds as needed.

3. Must be able to operate machines or equipment in all types of weather conditions.

4. Must be able to work outdoors with exposure to adverse or disagreeable weather conditions as required.

5. Must be willing to attend training on proper safety handling and protocols.

Maintenance Mechanic I – Salary Grade 8 $13.32

Scope of Work: To perform maintenance and repair work on state buildings, grounds and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.

Experience: One year of experience in general maintenance and repair work each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicles driven to perform job accountabilities. Any additional license must be stated on the supplemental job description and approved by the Division of Personnel prior to recruitment at the agency level.

Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway

Park Guide I – Salary Grade 7 $ 12.87

Scope of Work: To conduct guided tours and provide natural history, social and cultural information concerning the Franconia Notch State Park/Cannon Mountain for the public, while providing exceptional customer service to park visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential

Experience: No experience required; preference will be given to candidates with some experience in working with the public such as customer service.

Recommended Work Traits:Ability to communicate effectively orally. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to work with the public tactfully, courteously and effectively. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.

Ticket Seller – Salary Grade 8 $ 13.32

Scope of Work: To sell tickets and collect fees from the public and to calculate daily sales.

Minimum Qualification:
Education: High School diploma or equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience One year of related work experience.

License and or Certification: None

Flume Gorge and/or Aerial Tramway

Retail Store Clerk I – Salary Grade 6 $12.53

Scope of Work: To operate a cash register terminal in making sales in a retail store.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of two years of high school or equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Six months experience in positions involving public contact necessitating change making. .Additional years of relevant work experience may not be substituted for the formal education required by this class specification.

Special Requirements:
Must have attained 18th birthday on or before date of application.

Information Center Attendent I – Salary Grade 6 $12.53

Scope of Work: To maintain The Flume Gorge Information Center facility and to assist visitors and the traveling public by providing needed information regarding items such as maps, weather conditions and area activities

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.

Experience: Six months of experience which involve frequent contact with the general public such as retail sales, education, administrative support or a related field.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Job functions will often take place outdoors and duties will sometimes require exposure to adverse or disagreeable weather conditions.
May be exposed to cleaning agents and blood borne pathogens; proper safety handling and protocol training will be provided.

License/Certification: Valid New Hampshire driver's license if required to drive as part of duties assigned.
