Position Overview

Reynoldsburg City Schools (RCS), a school district recognized throughout the state for its forward-thinking and progressive culture, is seeking a Human Resource Generalist with the ability and motivation to drive change and build trusting relationships. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for providing various Human Resource functions for the District. This high-visibility role frequently works with Teachers, Staff, and District leader’s across RCS.

This position consists of professional work of considerable difficulty, performing a range of administrative functions related to Human Resources including Recruitment, Employee Relations, Compensation, Compliance, and Training and Development. This position will also be expected to research, recommend, and implement process improvement activities to create a “best practice” organization. Under limited supervision, the Human Resource Generalist ensures the Human Resource program and activities support the short and long-term goals of the Department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibilities for the Human Resources Department in the absence of the Director.
  • Performs day to day HR functions to include by not limited to Recruiting, Employee Relations, Compensation, Compliance, and Training and Development for the District
  • Responsible for recruiting and employment activities to include but not limited to job fairs, screening, processing of pre and/or post employment data, benefits, etc.
  • Responsible for the integrity and utilization of the HRIS system
  • Prepares and oversees completion of required research, analysis, documentation and preparation of reports
  • Works with staff, administrators, and others in matters relating to HR as well as particular concerns; effectively communicates district policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the planning, direction, and administering of the various human resource duties/activities
  • Responsible for the management of District HR policies and procedures to include but not limited to the development, review, and update to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and District regulations and requirements
  • Compiles and manages a variety of data systems (HRIS, ODE, etc.) for the purposes of developing formal reports, conveying information, and complying with federal, state, and local mandated requirements
  • Supervises the maintenance of departmental records, databases, and files
  • Provides guidance and responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purposes of providing information and/or resolving HR issues
  • Helps create and manage a Human Resources Department that is based on best practice principles based on efficient delivery models
  • Help develop and manage standard levels of service and processes across areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources

Supervision Responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible to recruit, manage, and support an HR Intern in cooperation with the local Universities and Colleges

Required Certifications, Education and Experience

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other applicable discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in K-12 (School District) Human Resources or equivalent of advanced degree and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Trusting individual and great relationship-builder

Preferred Certifications, Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of current human resources practices
  • SPHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification
  • Knowledgeable of the State Employee Relations Board (SERB) Policies and Procedures
  • Knowledgeable of the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensing, evaluation, and qualifications for School District Employees
  • Knowledge of State and Federal labor laws and regulation
  • Experience relating to public sector employment and/or collective bargaining
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage fiscal and human resources
  • Exhibits exceptional professionalism, tact, and courtesy
  • Strategic and analytical, consistently performing with a high degree of accuracy
