This position will work directly with the Comdata Sales team, Project Managers, Technical Services, Product Development, IT and Customer Relations to effectively and professionally manage technical projects for clients and potential clients. Provides both support in both pre-and post-sale by attending presentations, conducting technical overviews and consultation, product demonstrations, and installations/implementations. The ideal candidate is familiar with a variety of general technical concepts, software/hardware and communication protocols. The candidate also has an in-depth knowledge of the business aspects of Comdata, including detailed understanding of all products, services, practices and procedures. The candidate would be required to work with internal/external customers and third-party partners to analyze and design technical solutions to promote the business needs of Comdata and/or the client. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others.
Provide systems consulting guidance for internal and external clients and partners; coordinate with technical and operations staff/management to implement technical solutions
Provide trouble-shooting of issues escalated from operations, particularly technical services and customer relations
Provide support and subject matter expertise regarding Comdata applications/products
Provide Training and mentoring skills to junior Systems Engineers and Tech Services staff
Participate in the screening & interview process for hiring new Systems Engineers
Participate in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of new technology solutions and/or Comdata product offerings and enhancements
Document issues and best practices relating to customer requirements and product implementations
Manage client expectations for implementation of technology services; work closely with the customer relations or project manager to meet implementation goals
Provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and services.
Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures
May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level technical contributor/specialist
Provide technical support, including programming of unique applications and reports, across all product lines as required
Provide system analysis and third party programming resource management support in integration of new products and migrating of existing products
Provide detailed technical support to third party vendors (ICC, McLeod, TMW, TMT, Ceteris, etc) to improve their level of integration with our products
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science and/or Business Manager/Systems, Master degree preferred
6-10+ years of related experience or a combination of education and experience
Must have proven large project management skills with take-charge leadership and ownership ability
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills are required. Must proactively communicate directly with internal associates, clients and partners
Experience creating record layouts, use cases, gap analysis, process maps, network diagrams, data maps, and user documentation
Extensive knowledge of Comdata platforms, products/services and communications protocols are required
Ability to perform in a lead role for the systems integrations of large project involving multiple systems and 3rd party vendors
Must be an advanced user in all Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio. Development experience with Crystal Reports and other reporting tools required.
Knowledge of database systems (Access, SQL, Oracle, DB2, etc.) and related ERP/accounting systems required such as SAP, Great Plains, JD Edwards, Lawson, PeopleSoft, Infinium, etc.
Strong familiarity with 3rd party transportation and maintenance systems such as ICC, Tom McLeod, TMW, TMT, Ceteris, Maddocks, Dossier, etc. and how they integrate to the Comdata system
Thorough knowledge of major computer systems; mainframe, mini, and micro; including IBM 390, TANDEM, AS/400, RS6000, ES9000, client/server
Broad base of knowledge with various OS including all Microsoft OS, S/390, UNIX, Linux, DOS
Knowledge of telecommunications protocols and connectivity solutions; i.e. SNA, TCP/IP, 3270, 5250, LU6.2, real-time, SSL, PGP, networking, firewalls, routers, etc. as they relate to integration with the Comdata system
Thorough understanding of Internet application technologies / Web services and other distributed technologies such as XML, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI
