The Procurement Intern will be responsible for assisting the Procurement Team in meeting both departmental and corporate objectives. The individual will have the opportunity to become an instrumental part of the daily purchasing of goods and services, including but not limited to, reporting, analytics, purchase order creation and maintenance, and sourcing. MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and Deltek Costpoint will be utilized on a daily basis. The Procurement intern will interface with many levels of management in multiple departments and across Akima and its family of companies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Procurement Team on a daily basis
Assist in the development of process and procedure documents
Create and issue requests for quotes and purchase orders
Develop and negotiate various types of vendor and Subcontractor Agreements
Develops award files to meet with company and Government policies and regulations
Assess risk and initiate action to mitigate risk at all phases of subcontract formation, performance and close-out
Monitor subcontractor performance and initiate corrective action if performance falters; execute contract modifications in response to changing requirements; and perform close-out activities
Perform data collection, maintenance of the procurement files, and reporting
Attend meetings and trainings as appropriate
Must be a NANA Shareholder and own stock in “NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.”
Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
Willingness to work in a team environment
Basic to Intermediate knowledge of the MS Office Suite
Ability to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks
Desire to learn about purchasing in a Federal environment
Compensation: depending on class level or experience
