Description
The Physical Education Program at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach Dance in the areas of contemporary dance, jazz dance, tap dance, ethnic dance forms and social/ballroom dance. The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; screening of applications is ongoing and continues as needed. The need varies each semester, and the percentage of lecturer appointments may range from 9% to 45% time.

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): teaching one or more section of elementary to advanced dance; holding office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials, and compiling teaching materials as needed.

The number of available positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the Program. Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree (required at time of application)
At least one semester or equivalent experience teaching dance to adults (required at time of application)

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience teaching dance in a higher education environment. Master's or equivalent degree in related field. Accomplishment in one or more area of specialization

Salary:
Salary is commensurate with teaching experience. The starting minimum full-time equivalent salary is $53,402 in accordance with the current American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Unit 18 Lecturer salary scale and its provisions.
