Knight Point Systems is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to support an enterprise security suite within the Department of Homeland Security. Qualified candidates will have a broad understanding of IT Security and be capable of supporting and securing multiple applications within the enterprise. This includes being responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of tools, scripts and advanced workflows to automate repeatable tasks. Qualified candidates must be able to work directly with customers to define and achieve initial requirements and to drive continuous information security improvements. Candidate should have a background in technology with a strong history of secure technical implementations as well as an understanding of security auditing. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with security compliance and associated industry/government standards.
A Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate area or at least 8 years IT experience, which must include a minimum of 4 years focused on information security.
Candidate must be able to pass a Federal background investigation.
Experience working in a classified environment.
Experience handling classified information.
Extremely strong technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography and application security.
Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security.
Experience in engineering IT systems (RedHat, Windows, and databases), as well as working knowledge of current technologies
Experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, malware defense, threat detection, log management, content filtering, etc.
Experience working in or supporting SOC operations
Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a team environment.

Possess applicable certifications, preferred being:
Experience with various programming languages and scripting, such as Python, Perl, Bash, and Powershell.
Deep Packet Inspection/PCAP interpretation for troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems.
Experience defining security requirements.
Scanning and evaluation tools: Nessus, Retina, Wireshark, NMAP, etc.
Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing and exploit development / Proof-of-Concept.
Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
Identify and define system security requirements and design appropriate architecture.
Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities, enrich data and automate repeatable tasks.
Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement.
Liaison with security vendors.
Develop scripts to simplify data collection and other laborious tasks that are necessary to occur throughout the scanning and vulnerability assessment process.
Evaluate the latest vulnerability, network discovery, penetration, and other security evaluation tools.
