The position of Testing Support Specialist exists to provide students, staff, and faculty at Pikes Peak Community College with support in delivering integrated testing services. This position provides testing services to include proctoring and administering placement testing, testing for PPCC courses, standardized and industry certification testing, CLEP and DSST testing, GED and ESL testing, and other tests determined to meet students’ needs. Testing Support Specialists operates testing software, including online and computer-based testing, follows regulations and technical support, and ensures the academic integrity of testing.

There are two-full-time positions available.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Two years of experience proctoring and administering a variety of testing or assessment programs, including national-level standardized exams.
Experience working with community college or university students.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic file management.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in education, counseling or psychology, student affairs, management, public administration, or closely related field.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience providing advising, career counseling, or other student services to community college or university students.
Experience using computer software such as web design software and internet browsers.
Experience using Banner (INB and SSB) student record system.
Proctor certifications for at least two testing companies.

Essential Functions

Test proctoring and administration

Provides pre-test advising to students regarding the need to placement testing, including providing test preparation information. Determines exemptions from testing based upon documentation of academic preparation, following state and institution defined guidelines. Process and input transcripts, ACT, SAT, and other placement assessment scores into student’s records. Proctors placement tests, standardized tests, and PPCC course tests with knowledge of higher education testing procedures, under the supervision of the Coordinator of Testing. Maintains training and certification requirements to administer tests and ensure their integrity. Assists students with scheduled appointments for all testing services offered by the Testing Center. Setup and maintain exam computers, including troubleshooting IT related issues.

Administrative Support

Assists and supports Advising & Testing operations to include intake of students, answering questions from students, staff, and faculty with regard to departmental or instructional divisions to maintain compliance with institutional practices and procedures. Updates internal and external documents and marketing materials. Provides excellent customer service by answering phones, returning voicemails, and responding to emails in a timely manner.

Assists with Advising & Testing data gathering, assessment, and reporting

Works with the Coordinator of Testing on continuous assessment and improvement of processes affecting student enrollment and success metrics. Collects and reports testing data. Adheres to departmental tracking procedures.

Instructional support

At the direction of the Coordinator or Director serves as an Advising & Testing liaison to faculty and instructional division staff and leadership in meetings, classes, and events. Represents Advising & Testing on college committees and task forces as assigned, to include special events and service activities.

General Duties, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between advising and testing for new and continuing students.
Knowledge and understanding of community college mission, community college students, and diverse student populations.
Knowledge of standardized (high-stakes) testing, college testing, placement, assessment and measurement programs.
Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office products, web design, internet browser, online usage, and basic network configurations and operations.
Ability to prepare effective written communications, utilizing correct grammar and spelling.
Ability to interact professionally and tactfully, communicate, establish rapport and work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and community members or organizations.
Demonstrated skills in organization and accurate recordkeeping with strict attention to detail and student privacy issues.
Works effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and outside personnel and agencies.
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and report writing skills
Public speaking and presentation experience.
Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction; and as an effective team member.
Must be able to work at all campus locations, all military sites, and any off campus sites deemed necessary. Occasional evening and occasional Saturday hours will be required.
