Leads the development, design, implementation, communication and administration of the organization’s Total Rewards (Benefits, Compensation, Work-Life Effectiveness) program in support of and alignment with KS’ people and business strategies. Collaborates with HR leadership team to build and execute HR vision and strategy to achieve business results. Serves as a thought partner to engage in and solution for strategic and tactical issues faced by senior leadership in their efforts to recruit, retain and develop talent.

Essential Responsibilities

Vision, Strategy, Planning and Execution

Provides strategic leadership, vision, change management (including change communications), stakeholder engagement, planning and execution for leading and directing organization-wide HR Total Rewards program and initiatives paramount to supporting and achieving strategic goals for HR and the larger Kamehameha Schools (KS) organization.
Utilizes business and functional expertise, an understanding of the organization’s strategy and capabilities, business knowledge and other critical external factors and a focus on mission to guide the development, execution and evolution of an HR and Total Rewards strategy consistent with short and long-term organizational needs and business objectives.
Identifies and reports key Total Rewards operating benchmarks and metrics while overseeing the monitoring and reporting of progress and trends on key metrics.
Anticipates future workforces needs to direct the design and implementation of a holistic, integrated and employee-centric Total Rewards infrastructure and program to drive a strong, motivated, high performing and engaged workforce.
Utilizes KS organizational strategy and priorities along with internal and external benchmarks to set clear, high performance goals and allocates resources to consistently achieve objectives.
Foresees and addresses future opportunities and threats, effectively manages change and creates a culture of performance and accountability for individuals, teams and the organization.
Leads the development, implementation and documentation of Total Rewards business processes to seek continuous improvement and quality assurance across Compensation and Benefits functions that are informed by benchmark data and best practices.
Leadership

Collaborates with HR leadership team in the development of annual HR goals and objectives that align with organizational strategies. Develops and establishes function-specific annual plans, priorities, resources, goals and objectives which are supportive of cross-functional HR goals and objectives.
Provides thought leadership, technical expertise and consulting support to organizational leaders and their staff on HR decisions, compensation and benefit decisions, including policy and guideline interpretation.
Effectively communicates vision, strategy and goals to individuals, teams and the organization.
Leads, develops and motivates diverse teams and organizations by persuading business leaders and key HR partners and stakeholders of the importance and effectiveness of HR programs/initiatives.
May lead and/or co-lead projects and initiatives that are transformational in nature and that may have significant functional impact.
Design and Collaboration

Builds strong, motivate, high performing, diverse teams and takes personal responsibility to develop talent for the organization.
Establishes personal and organizational learning as a priority.
Partners with internal HR leadership and key stakeholders to lead change, innovation and turnaround.
Develops and implements programs and projects to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness; monitors and reports status and progress to key stakeholders.

Development and Capacity Building

Strategically builds relationships and engages key internal and external stakeholders to receive input, understand perspectives and then effectively bring diverse points of view together. Works collaboratively to shape the business strategy by understand the business context and strategy including external economic, social technological, regulatory, market, industry and competitive forces. Creates an environment that encourages and enables people to work, learn and develop solutions together.
Directs the design and implementation of corporately aligned and locally relevant Total Rewards programs.
Manages the delivery and communication of Total Rewards programs to ensure employees and managers understand and value them.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or closely related field.
Minimum of 8 years of professional level, progressively responsible related HR experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manager or director.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to executives and senior leaders.
Knowledge of HR functions (organizational development, talent/succession management, executive counseling/coaching, employee/labor relations, leadership development, performance management, workforce planning and development, HR metrics, Wellness, HR Shared Services) that drive effective and efficient Human Resources service delivery.
Initiative to take risks with new opportunities and leadership of an organization through ongoing change.
Strong collaboration, communication and influence skills.
Bias towards results, accountability, resource stewardship, and effective decision making.
Ability to use technology and information to impact business performance.
In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits functions.
Proven ability to strategic vision and direction.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholders and to attract, develop and inspire a high performing team.

Previous robust organizational development, change management and HR work experiences that demonstrate stability, commitment and measurable success in a large and complex organization.
Skilled at management of multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous HR work experience at the senior management level in a large, complex organization, educational institution, educational trust or non-profit setting.
Knowledge of and/or sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and population.
Proven organizational development, change management and/or HR proficiency and experience in Hawaii’s business and labor market.
Physical Requirements

Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Occasionally stand and walk, write by hand, and lift, carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions

This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
