You will be a member of the R&D Project Management Office team that supports the design and development of innovative medical devices.
The Product Development Process (PDP) Champion owns the PDP process critical to accelerating growth for the Avanos organization. This cross-functional leadership role also includes leading the management of a franchise portfolio management process in conjunction with Avanos business unit leadership. This entails developing and continuously improving the project activation, resourcing, and prioritization process and tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and continuously improves the PDP process including ensuring an up to date RACI with proper references and examples of best practices.
Develops, manages, and continuously improves the franchise portfolio management process including project activation, resourcing, and prioritization
Includes implementing and managing a portfolio and resource database and dashboard
Assists, as requested, Project Leaders with franchise reviews.
Develops and utilizes R&D Metrics and tools for tracking the PDP process and portfolio
Owns and regularly updates the PDP share-point site
Owns and provides consistent and ongoing PDP training throughout the organization
Benchmarks across the industry to include best practices and drives continuous improvement
Assesses issues identified by Project Leaders, Program Managers, and Functional Groups and works closely with the Associate Director of R&D PMO to identify organizational opportunities to improve product development
Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, effectively communicating with all levels of the organization, providing frequent contact on portfolio status and changes
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline
8-10+ years of successful demonstrated experience in Project Management, R&D and/or product development or equivalent experience in a regulated industry
Proven negotiation and influence skills
Strong people and process management skills
Strong analytical and reporting skills
Outstanding communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to all levels of an organization
Must be adept at planning, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and organizing teamwork
Ability to travel up to 20% at times, potentially some international
Advanced Scientific degree and/or MBA preferred
Candidates with proven Product Development and/or Project Management Experience
Candidates with previous experience in Cross-Functional Leadership roles
Candidates with previous experience managing R&D or related technical teams
Candidates who have driven or been a key core team member in PDP improvement initiatives
Medical Device Product Development Experience a very strong plus
Familiarity with tools and techniques used for systems engineering, concept engineering, and quality systems strongly desired
