Homeless Children’s Network works to address the traumatic effects of homelessness and violence in the lives of young children and their families. We are seeking a contract or freelance grant writer to support our development team. You will work with the Director of Development and Communications to develop clear and compelling proposals, reports, and donor communications. The grant writer will help grow our foundation, corporate, and government grants portfolio. This is a contract position, starting on a per-project basis with the possibility to grow. Desired time commitment is up to 40 hours per month.
Your responsibilities will include:
The ideal candidate will have superior writing and editing skills, keen interest in telling stories in the service of fundraising, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of nonprofit development. Candidates with knowledge of regional health and human services funders are preferred. This position has flexibility and can work remotely.

HCN works to decrease the impact of trauma and to empower families. Our comprehensive behavioral health services services enable us to work closely with each family to understand their unique needs. We form a trusted relationship and follow our clients over time, providing the security and stability that allows them to become more stable and confident, raise healthy and emotionally independent children, and develop skills that will help lift them out of the cycle of homelessness. As the hub of the citywide HCN Collaborative of 52+ member agencies, we work to create a unified voice and raise the “standard of care” for programs across San Francisco.
