Description & Requirements
The Group Lead- Mnfr - Engineering will lead and support multiple capital projects of significant complexity and business impact with a large degree of autonomy through all project phases ranging from ideation- preliminary engineering- and detailed design through execution and start-up. S/he will also work closely with Site Engineering leads in building capital budgets- developing all types of projects and leading long range plan development for Operating Units (OPUs) within their platform. Evaluate capital project execution and effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. This individual needs to be highly regarded in the areas of influencing and working across the organization as a technical and project leader.
To ensure projects are completed within agreed timeline- budget and successful attainment of objectives.
Completes specific phases or aspects of the project such as technical studies- preparation of specifications and technical plans.
Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments- scheduling- and resolving engineering design and technical problems.
Provide functional and technical support to the factories to minimize production and maintenance problems.
Apply engineering expertise to equipment design- problems solving- and quality improvement.
Actively participate on committees and task forces to drive company goals.
Capital Appropriation Request preparation including scope- cost estimates- timelines- savings- financial analysis- factory/company impact and execution plans.
Development of reports and presentations as required.
Development and management of cost controls- asset controls and scheduling controls.
Hires and supervises various contractors and engineering firms in the scope of project manager. This may encompass all project areas and may be dispersed among a wide range of distinct trades.
Participate actively in Company efforts to reduce operational costs and improve finished quality attributes. Develop projects where appropriate to initiate utilization of cost cutting/quality improving technique or equipment.
Cash forecasting for self-managed projects. Oversight and direction of capital and expense cash flow forecasting for assigned factories.
Analyzes systems- processes and results to define and/or recommend changes to manufacturing systems and processes to increase productivity
Plans and recommends capital equipment purchases to support and improve manufacturing processes
Monitors implementation of capital projects to ensure that standards and expectations for each objective are completed as planned
Negotiates pricing for capital projects and equipment purchases
Ensures that projects are properly planned to provide detailed objectives and sufficient funding to ensure stated results and deliverables are achieved
Identify and secure all resources to successfully execute the project in the most cost effective and sustainable manner
Offer recommendations to system and equipment designs to increase productivity- reliability sustainability and reduce cost
Maintain clear communication of project goals throughout the plant and with executive/leadership team to encourage participation- support and to ensure that scheduling deadlines and budgets are met
Work with operations- quality and maintenance to provide technical support in the design- development- purchase- installation- start-up- operation- maintenance- and improvement of equipment to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability
Ensure high quality standards by supporting and advancing quality systems
Consults with State and Local agencies- along with legal counsel- on permitting and zoning matters
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school or related field is required
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering- project management and /or technical leadership in a
Possess a high level of human relation’s skills to be able to efficiently interact with all individuals.
Preferred PMI PMP certification or the ability to become PMP certificated.
CPG Food Engineering expertise in theories and principles of the professional field- as demonstrated by previous successful project and/or program implementations.
Experience and capability to assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions.
Strong background in process and packaging equipment for the food industry.
Excellent knowledge of the Kraft Heinz Operation processes and KHMS MRE Chapters
Prior experience leading cross functional teams on capital projects ranging in value from $50K up to $10MM is required.
Skilled in developing Request for Proposals (RFPs) RFP for engineering services- construction services and equipment.
Understanding of capital finance and manufacturing Key Performance Indicators is required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule. Travel will be based on location- assigned project factories and project work; can range from 50 – 70%.
