This position is located within the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Office of the Department of Administration. Under limited supervision, the incumbent is responsible for case management, face-to-face visits, court preparation, and court attendance for cases in which there is no Guardian ad Litem appointed. Completes monthly monitoring reports and inputs data into the ETO database. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with the Department of Social Services, Family Court, and other child serving agencies. The incumbent supports functions necessary for effective volunteer advocacy including statewide driving for child visits. Assists with recruitment efforts and volunteer training sessions as caseload decreases. Handles special projects as assigned. Operates in accordance with the best practices and policies of the South Carolina GAL Program. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and relevant program, volunteer management, or child welfare experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of applicable laws and procedures pertaining to child welfare. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and data entry. Requires regular attendance to statewide staff and regional meetings, as well as evening training. Requires frequent statewide travel. Position may require overnight travel, working evenings and/or weekends, and routine driver duties. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Must have valid South Carolina driver's license. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.
