Software Engineering Manager at Marquardt Switches, Inc.:
The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership and supervision of engineering staff to achieve objectives of output and quality, and to ensure compliance with company policies. This position also entails planning team strategies and team development and serves as the final authority for decision making within the engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities:
Oversee multiple projects and ensure project timing is maintained.
Allocate resources as necessary to ensure success for all business requirements.
Develop resource plans and ensure that organization has sufficient time to react to insufficient resources.
Ensure that team members have all the necessary equipment, tools and support to perform tasks successfully.
Ensure developed plans are followed and maintained until completion.
Manage interfaces between the engineering team and other teams in the company to ensure smooth and effective relationships.
Identify training needed by the team and the priority it will be conducted; ensure training effectiveness.
Recognize problems early before they constrain project teams.
Make decisions with little or no support and ensure correct result for project team and company.
Make technical decisions when team cannot reach agreement.
Serve as a professional example for others to follow by being diplomatic and able to communicate effectively within the Marquardt organization.
Ensure proper implementation of company policies and procedures.
Track and maintain all project hours spent by the engineering team.
Track and develop KPIs for the team and communicate regularly the status of such items.
Objectively evaluate team performance and develop resources by conducting quarterly performance reviews and an annual review in accordance to company policy.
Support quoting of new business, this is not limited to only design; can include designing under time constraints in a cost effective and correct manner with close collaboration of cross functional teams locally and globally.
Maintain complete software theory knowledge; learn new theory when the business or customer requires.
Have complete understanding of software specifications for multiple customers. Be capable of supporting testing and offer solutions to identified problems.

Required Qualifications for this role include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical field; Master’s Degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in software design and development, preferably in the automotive industry, with an expert understanding of software design and development processes.
Experience managing and leading teams with advanced management skills in planning and organization, decision making, and problem solving.
Complete understanding of the PPAP Process and capability of performing reviews and releasing documents within the quality organization.
Advanced technical knowledge with the ability to communicate on a technical level with a global electrical team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, customers, and employees.
Advanced verbal communication skills, including group presentation.
Ability to prepare complex written reports and other documents.
Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions.

Travel:
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed required.

Supervisor Responsibility:
This position supervises engineering staff in the software department.

Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Ability to use close vision, color vision, and depth perception for extended periods.
