The National Security team is part of Microsoft’s Customer Security & Trust organization (CST) within Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA). This organization leads much of Microsoft’s work to advance the security and trust our customers have in us as a company.

The Director of Security Operations will serve as a key contributor on Microsoft’s National Security leadership team reporting to the Corporate Director of Security.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Manages Microsoft’s classified security operations and compliance program
Engages with senior customer executives (gov't and non-gov't) on policy and directives.
Engage with National Security team leads and internal stakeholders to identify and mature organization processes to meet business and financial objectives
Works with the company’s Insider Threat Program’s Senior Official, Government officials and Microsoft’s stakeholders to develop a comprehensive security plans for classified operations
Works with Microsoft business organizations to understand their business processes, priorities and their respective clearance and security requirements
Works closely with Microsoft engineering teams to grow the Azure Government business, to understand the U.S. government needs, remove obstacles and integrate security protocols that ensure the smooth operations of running the day-to-day services
Communicates and coordinates with senior business leaders in Microsoft on issues related to classified work and engagement affecting Microsoft business interests
Engages with Azure engineering, operations teams and other internal Microsoft groups including Office 365 to plan and implement a world class Facility and Personnel security strategy
Partner with Microsoft’s International security offices on issues related to process improvements and engagements affecting Microsoft business interests
Qualifications

Qualifications:
Leadership: Experienced leader, manager, coach and developer of talent with a proven ability to lead through influence. The Security Director of Operations will lead designated National Security initiatives, ranging from proposed policies/new regulations to operational standards and other internal processes to comply with government directives and regulations.
Organization Development and Coordination: Ability to work with others to build a world class cleared team, establish priorities, metrics, and an ROB for achieving the cleared personnel needed to perform today and grow the business for tomorrow
Coordination Cross Company: Develop relationships across the company with security leads/leaders in relevant organizations to advance our classified work, develop transparency and trust, and make recommendations to advance the company’s national security posture.
Communication: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to advocate changes which will improve our cybersecurity processes, incident responses, and communications.
Agility and Dealing with Ambiguity: Ability to operate in highly matrixed, cross-functional and collaborative environment. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to navigate ambiguity, a fast-paced environment, and demonstrated capability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances of both internal and external stakeholders across a diverse disciplines and cultures.

Basic Qualifications

Applicant must be a US citizen and possess a US Government Top Secret Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information based on Tier 5 Investigation (formerly a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)*) and a current Polygraph or ability to obtain one
10+ years of experience implementing security requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual, Special Access Programs and Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) and running a security team
Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining a successful security programs with successful audits from governance agencies
Relevant experience providing security management of security shared services, Data Center, Cloud Services, and/or Network /Security Operation Centers (NOC/SOC) environments
Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
