What You Will Do:
This critical full-time position will work within the Enterprise Applications Engineering team, bringing demonstrated technical expertise to transform customer needs into business and technical documentation from which to develop, modernize and enhance solutions for the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have an information technology background with strong experience in translating business requirements into technical requirements and ensuring requirements are implemented fully for each solution. The business analyst interfaces with both the client and our technical staff. Ensures intended value is realized through consistent documentation delivery and building strong trust-based relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Job Duties:
Develop and finalize all assigned artifacts and perform as the primary point of contact for all application requirement elicitation needs

Perform requirements elicitation and development (business, functional, and technical and develop artifacts, models, and diagrams to best communicate requirements at the appropriate level of detail, for example use case models and diagrams, interface control documents, role-based matrices, requirements traceability matrices, domain models, logical data modeling, etc.

Develop high level design artifacts to ensure a comprehensive understanding of system/application inputs, logical architecture components, outputs and associated interfacing systems.

Develop test case scenarios for functional, system, user acceptance and regression testing as appropriate for the initiative/project.

Communicate recommended technical approach/design for application development, modernization and enhancements through development of alternative analyses and high-level design artifacts.

Provide input on work estimates for project scheduling related to requirements elicitation, analysis and design, and provide content for monthly status reports

Ensure adherence to quality standards for white papers, artifacts, templates, and quality assurance verification

Recommend and assist on/recommend actions to improve existing artifacts, templates, management plans, and business processes.

Identify project risks and potential mitigation strategies

Desired Skills:
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience with requirements elicitation, technical writing, and IT project support
  • Strong experience in writing clear, compelling and understandable business cases, proposals, white papers, and other documents and presentations in a "customer facing" way
  • Ability to communicate with both business clients and IT technical resources with significant subject matter expertise
  • Mastery in both Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and possess a base understanding of Adobe Acrobat
  • Prefer business analysts with at least some limited project management experience as well as strong technical editing capabilities
  • Must be a self-starter and have experience working multiple project tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability to relate tactfully and professionally with customers at all organizational levels
  • Highly organized, energetic, creative, passionate, team player
  • Past experiences with COTS requirements management tools such as DOORS
Years of Experience: 3-8
Certifications: Desired one or more of the following, but not necessarily required ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, CFLBA, CPRE, or PMI-PBA
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
