POSITION PURPOSE
Â

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible to be a partner with all areas of the organization. This includes performing various HR generalist tasks for all Goodwill business functions. The position is responsible for assisting with all HR initiatives, including areas of Performance Management, Employee Relations, and compliance with Federal, State and Local laws. The Human Resource Generalist is a member of the Quality Team. HR experience in big box retail highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1.  Handle and/or redirect to appropriate area all team member issues that escalate to the attention of the HR Generalist.

2.   Maintain strict confidentially of all sensitive information pertaining to but not limited to employment development and/or employment information, along with maintaining a professional work environment.

3.   Partner with various Goodwill businesses to assist with performance management, employee relations, HR policies and procedures.

4.   Handle Unemployment Insurance benefit claims, including attending hearings and completing required Department of Labor documentation.

Â

5.   Assist department in meeting and/or exceeding established goals. Make recommendations to improve existing policies, and procedures.

6.   Ensure administrative duties for the quarterly drug testing program are completed. This includes ensuring individuals selected for random testing are notified and tested.

7.   Regularly updates Regional HR Manager on progress, issues, and any areas of challenge, opportunity or concern.

8.   Assist department with new hire paperwork for all Goodwill Team Members and paid consumers is entered timely and accurately into HRIS.

9.   Assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures by working with department leaders and other key staff members.

10. Administer and coordinate Rapid Rewards recognition program, including distribution of Rapid Reward Certificates and tracking rewards redeemed.

11. Assist in the administering of Goodwill’s quarterly random drug testing program.

Â

12. Assist with ensuring all divisional functions and facilities are in compliance with the Department of Labor, OSHA, Federal, State and Local rules and  regulations.

13. Works varied hours/days as business dictates, participating in after hour events such as job fairs, speaking engagements, attending community functions and remaining current on new developments in the business community.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEÂ Â Â Â

Â

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related fields and/or 5+ plus years in related experience. Must have prior experience and the ability to effectively execute HR Generalist tasks and be a self-starter. Accredited HR certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. Position requires strong attention to detail, excellent writing and oral skills, in addition to extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to work independently, exercising good judgment, initiative and maintain strict confidentiality.
