The Conservation Assistant is responsible for determining customer program eligibility, tracking conservation program activity, and administrative functions of the Drought Management & Conservation Department. The Conservation Assistant reports to the Conservation Manager and is not responsible for supervising other employees. This position is located in Torrance, CA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Tracks Cal Water’s district conservation programs and makes recommendations for improvements
Prepares written and verbal reports regarding program activity
Assists the Conservation Manager with short and long-term departmental and district conservation program planning
Determines and creates needed requisitions and change orders; researches, gathers, and enters information into various databases
Processes invoices and receives on Purchase Orders
Reviews customer program applications to determine eligibility
Digitizes and organizes customer applications and other departmental information
Updates Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) with information related to water-use restriction violations and customer program participation
Participates in and supports the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
Attends meetings and training as directed by California Water Service
Performs other similar duties as assigned
High School diploma
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Water Resources or related field and/or equivalent relevant experience desirable
Must obtain AWWA Water Use Efficiency Practitioner, Grade 1 Certification within 12 months
Knowledge of applicable State, Federal and local laws and regulations
Ability to perform basic mathematic functions to calculate figures and analyze results
Ability to organize work to meet changing schedules and high-pressure situations
Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions
Exceptional ability to communicate new information effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a tactful and persuasive manner
Excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to outstanding customer service
Must be proficient in personal computer skills including Microsoft Office and CC&B
Valid California Driver License
