The Fountas & Pinnell Editorial Associate provides a wide range of project support to the editorial team, consisting of ten employees and multiple offsite freelancers. With enough experience, may also manage small projects independently under the guidance of others.
Current and planned projects include:
Fountas &Pinnell Classroom 4-6
Word Study 5-6
Benchmark Assessment System 4e K-8
FPC Shared Reading/Guided Reading books and lessons
Streamlined editions of F&P professional books
Assist editors with project work including file management, writing/editing, proofreading, cold reads, markup of PDFs and/or manuscript
Coordinate reprint files and attend weekly reprint schedule meetings
Research and organize trade book collections, update trade book data
Maintain F&P Style Guide
Provide direction and guidance to Editorial Assistant and interns
Coordinate off-site meetings
Attend weekly status meetings, project meetings, and author meetings when needed
Consult with colleagues and contribute to other projects when called upon to do so
Participate in cross-company initiatives
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or other related fields
3+ years demonstrated experience with writing/editing
Prefer someone Bilingual in Spanish
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven, team environment
Expertise with Microsoft Word, Adobe, Google Docs, and facility with WEBEX/Zoom for remote employees
On-site work in Portsmouth, NH is required
Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
