Duties & Responsibilities
The Associate Registrar directs all DCE course registration services and serves as a key member of the Registrar’s Office senior management team. Responsible for the strategic vision of the registration experience and creating a 21st Century state-of-the-art registrar’s office that can be responsive to the dynamic nature of continuing education.
Oversees all critical functions of the Course Registration unit of the DCE Registrar’s Office including, but not limited to: all aspects of course enrollment for the Harvard Extension School (HES) with ~900 courses and 16,000 students and Harvard Summer School (HSS) with ~500 courses and 9,000 students. Manages registration-related records and communications, and ensures compliance with DCE policies as well as federal, state, and University-wide regulations.
Develops new policies and procedures to streamline course registration operations and enhance the student experience. Works closely with the Student Financial Services department to coordinate issues related to enrollment and payment as well as the Academic Dean of HES and Assistant Dean of HSS on course enrollment policies.
Key participant in discovery and implementation of Student Information System (SIS) and other related enterprise software systems. Designs and implements changes and functional improvements to Banner SIS and student self-service applications.
BA/BS. Minimum 8 years of Registrar’s Office experience. Experience with Student Information Systems. Minimum 5 years personnel management experience.
Experience with Banner SIS and Salesforce CRM preferred. Ability to think analytically and strategically and to manage multiple competing priorities effectively and efficiently. Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills; ability to work with individuals of all professional levels and coordinate inter-departmental processes/procedures. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities including the Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 13,000 students per year in approximately 65 liberal arts and professional fields. More than 650 open enrollments online and classroom courses are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 300 courses on the Harvard Campus to 6,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering about 60 two-day, noncredit courses annually.
