The Troy Recreation Department believes that recreation, through diverse programs, facilities and services, has a positive impact on building strong, active, healthy communities for residents of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. The Youth Basketball Scorekeeper/Official will be responsible for supporting the community recreation goals of the City of Troy and the Recreation Department through providing an opportunity for youth in the community to participate in our basketball leagues.
DUTIES

Assist with setup/clean-up for youth basketball courts in preparation of games.

Provide officiating/referee services for youth games grades K-9th.
- Provide scorekeeping for youth games grades 4-9th by operating a scoreboard and/or keeping track on paper scoring.

Supervise and organize youth basketball games under the direction of on-site coordinators or supervisors.

Maintain good public relationships with staff, coaches, and community.
- Advise program coordinator and supervisor of problems, complaints, and safety issues promptly.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least fourteen (14) years of age.

Must obtain a valid work permit, as needed if under eighteen (18).
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting with program participants, staff, coaches, and community members.
- Access to reliable transportation or ride to job site.
PREFERENCES

Interest in working with youth sports activities.
- Knowledge of basic basketball rules, or willing to learn with training provided.
HOURS
-
Seasonal, part-time, approximately 8 hours per week.
- Schedule and availability must be attentive to programming and customer service needs.
- Regular schedule includes Saturdays from January-March, approximately 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
- Availability for training in late December and/or early January.
EVALUATION PROCESS
Will consist of application review, interview, and a skills assessment.
