Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor has the general responsibility of assisting the Program Supervisor in providing services and supports for individuals with disabilities. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for assisting with staff management, training and supervision, the supervision and safety of participants with disabilities, activity leadership and professional work skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development: In collaboration with the Services Supervisor, appropriate PRRC staff, funding sources, and other affiliated families/agency staff is responsible for the development and coordination of integrated activities according to individual interests/needs. These include recreational, vocational, communication, socialization, self-help/advocacy, and independent living skills.
Individual Service Planning: Utilizing Person-Centered Thinking practices assist the Services Supervisor in the coordination, development, and progress of Individual Service Plans to support individuals in achieving goals and objectives. Includes the coordination of individual records and the timely distribution of reports.
Safety of Individuals Served: Responsible for ensuring that services are provided in a manner that meets the basic care needs of each individual and simultaneously addresses safety and emergency procedures. This includes assisting in the implementation of procedures to handle crisis intervention, injuries, illness, and accidents as needed.
Admissions: With the support of the Services Supervisor and Enrollment Team assist with intakes, assessments, evaluations, and discharge/follow up processes for individuals served.
Community and Public Relations: Communicates, supports and advocates on behalf of people with disabilities.
Assist in the coordination of all other aspects of service delivery as needed.
Recruitment and Retention: Assist the Services Supervisor in coordination with the Director of Adult Day Services and Human Resources with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, succession planning, and separation of staff.
Assigning/Directing Work: Assist in the daily coordination of staff activities including scheduling, resolving problems, addressing complaints, appraising performance, and rewarding/disciplining staff as needed.
Staff Development: In coordination with the Services Supervisor and the Director of Adult Day Services, provide staff with initial and ongoing training and skill development. This includes, but is not limited to, orientation to services, service delivery procedures, effective teaching techniques, managing records, crisis intervention, and problem resolution. Encourage the use of Person-Centered Thinking practices and tools.
Compliance: Assist in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation’s policies, procedures, and with all applicable laws and regulations
Service Goals/Objectives: Assist Services Supervisor and Director of Adult Day Services in developing annual departmental goals in keeping with PRRC strategic goals and market audit/customer satisfaction findings.
Communicate (orally and in writing) in a clear, effective and timely manner with the persons served, their support team, staff, volunteers, interns, colleagues, and public-at-large.
Service Outcomes/Performance: In coordination with Service Supervisor and the Director of Adult Day Services, review, monitor, and report outcomes in relation to service performance effectiveness, efficiency, access, and satisfaction.
Compliance/Certification Requirements: Assist in attaining and maintaining program certification including following all applicable laws and regulations as required by regulatory agencies (i.e., Department of Developmental Services, Department of Rehabilitation, Department of Labor, Department of Education, and Community Care Licensing).
Fiscal Responsibilities: Support Services Supervisor with departmental finances as needed.
Interpersonal Relations: Work effectively to accomplish the mission of the organization through developing and maintaining positive relations with persons served, care providers, employers, staff, affiliated organizations, and the community in general.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS Degree from a Human Services or closely related field preferred
Two years in providing services in Human Services or closely related field with knowledge and experience working with people with disabilities.
One year of supervisory experience in a clinical and/or community setting OR five years combination of education and experience.
3+ year related experience and/or training working with individuals with disabilities.
Demonstrated leadership experience
Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and other laws – preferred
Working effectively with a variety of personalities and to be sensitive to the needs/communication of persons with differing abilities
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects with varying time-sensitive deadlines.
Proficient and competent in the latest versions of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) FileMaker, Windows and Macintosh programs/operating systems, email, and the Internet.
Criminal Record Clearance
Current certification in CPR, Pediatric First Aid, and ProAct preferable (training provided by employer)
