The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ENT physicians and other healthcare staff. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow in the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Preparation:
· Welcome and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
· Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration).
· Obtain patient history and document it in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
· Assist patients in understanding procedures and answering their basic questions.
Assistance During Exams and Procedures:
· Assist during patient examinations.
· Set up examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterilized.
· Administer medications and treatments as directed by the physician.
· Perform diagnostic tests under the supervision of the physician.
Patient Records Management:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR system.
· Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
· Coordinate and complete necessary paperwork for referrals.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program welcome, but not essential.
· Previous experience in a medical office, preferably in an ENT or similar specialty, is beneficial.
· Proficiency in using EMR systems preferred, but willing to train.
· Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
· Knowledge of medical terminology especially related to ENT helpful, but not necessary.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly.
· Collaborative and enjoys working as part of a team to deliver excellent patient experience.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Manual dexterity to handle instruments and equipment.
· Ability to lift to 20 lbs. and move patients and medical supplies as needed.
· Effective communicator, both in writing and speaking.
· Work is performed in a clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases and biohazard
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
