Nursing Assistant: Stroke/Medical Nursing Unit: Hooker 1 - 32 hours - nights

The Nursing Assistant performs a variety of routine care for patients under the direction and delegation of the Registered Nurse, including but not limited to:

  • provides a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff; maintains hallway and egress free of clutter; keeps patient rooms organized, free of clutter, does not overstock rooms with supplies,
  • completes cleansing of equipment removed from patient’s rooms per infection control policy,
  • prepares rooms for admission; removes supplies prior to EVS discharge cleaning,
  • assists in and or provides activities of daily living including; bathing, oral hygiene, denture care, and peritoneal care; assists in elimination activities including toileting, Foley catheter care and ostomy care for an established ostomy patient,
  • serves and collects food trays and feeds or supervises patients requiring help; monitors and records intake, output and percentage of meal taken,
  • monitors and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates, oxygen saturations, pain levels and weights as assigned; communicates information to RN; if significant changes in vital signs, skin integrity are observed or patient complains of pain, the NA will report to the RN immediately,
  • collects specimens as directed per policy,
  • answers spectra link call system within established time frame to determine patients' needs; communicates with other nursing team members relative to patient condition and requests if unable to meet them
Minimum Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with Patient Care Assistant/Patient Care Technician experience required
  • CNA experience in an acute care setting preferred
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification required or must obtain prior to hire
WORK SCHEDULE: Hooker 1 32 hour CNA to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
