Maschmeyer Concrete Company in West Palm Beach, Florida is seeking an experienced concrete Assistant Operations Manager.
Concrete Assistant Operations Manager Responsibilities Include:
Philosophy: Aligned with the Maschmeyer Concrete Mission Statement and Core Values, the Assistant Operations Manager assists the Operations Manager in supervising daily operations in the organization and the quest for continuous improvement within the organization:
Leadership: Quality Plant Managers. Assist in training and coaching Plant Managers so they are able to effectively perform their roles and responsibilities. Training should also be provided to appropriate individuals who can Ensures function as assistant plant managers.
Safety Culture. The Assistant Operations Manager reinforces the culture of safety. This individual attends monthly safety meetings and is personally present at difficult concrete placements, either on-site or at the production facility, to serve as a leader for team members.
Plant Maintenance. The Assistant Operations Manager will oversee all plant maintenance functions. The Plant Maintenance personnel will receive work schedules from the Assistant Operations Manager and will accompany him when performing monthly inspections of all production facilities.
Fleet Maintenance. The Assistant Operations Manager will assure all Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) are being filled out appropriately by all Delivery Professionals, reviewed daily by Plant Managers, and maintenance is aware of and completing repairs and/or taking action. Two-way communication between the maintenance team and the Delivery Professionals needs to be enhanced.
Material Usage. Responsible for ensuring inventories are physically verified properly on a weekly basis and effective inventory control and material usage tracking program is in place at all times.
Leadership by Example. The Assistant Operations Manager can batch at every plant in the division and will visit each location weekly. This manager is expected to know each team member by name and develop relationships with them in keeping with the Mission and Core Values. In order to develop and nurture these relationships, the Assistant Operations Manager must treat every team member with respect and fairness, often times relying on the Golden Rule. This manager will also assist at a plant during busy days or by substituting for Plant Managers who are ill or on PTO.
Staffing: Delivery Professional. The best operators focus on maximizing truck utilization by being able to run every operational truck with an available Delivery Professional. This manager assists the organizational focus on staffing needs and removing obstacles to long-term retention. Additionally, they ensure corporate hiring procedures are followed to prevent as many future problems from occurring as possible.
Delivery Professional Training. This manager will assist the Operations Manager, the Safety Officer and the trainers in the administration of an effective Delivery Professional training program to include:
Productivity: Truck productivity is an important component of our KPI Program. Truck assignments, trucks mechanically available, and percentage of trucks mechanically available are tracked on a daily basis. Working with the Fleet Maintenance Manager, Customer Service, and Plant Managers is crucial to meet these goals.
Labor Productivity is another part of the KPI Program the Assistant Operations Manager must help focus on. Load time and temper time occur at the plant locations and can be controlled. Training the Plant Managers and Delivery Professionals is an essential part in being successful.
Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting the Unexpected. The Assistant Operations Manager has use of a company vehicle in order to troubleshoot unexpected incidents. This manager is empowered to make judgments to smooth customer issues or protect the company’s interests.
