The Cardiothoracic Registry Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all cardiovascular database activities including ensuring quality standards of abstraction are met, generating or creating organized, detailed reports, presenting findings and participating in performance improvement functions.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains timely and accurate data entry requirements from patient charts into participating

registries.

Maintains a current knowledge of abstracting guidelines; Utilizing the current/correct version of the specifications manual.

Performs quality assurance checks on all data prepared for external submission and ensures timely submission of Harvest data prior to deadlines.

Runs registry reports to analyze performance and compliance and compares and makes corrections to data as needed.

Maintains a current knowledge of computer software and application upgrades and shares/educates CV team as needed.

Acts as a technical support liaison between our vendor (Cardiopulse) and SLUHN.

Serves as primary contact for data requests related to internal & external reports for STS data.

In coordination with department members, makes weekly rounds and participates in case discussions; Offering real time collaboration, education and clarification to ensure entire team understands STS requirements.

Prepares high quality presentations with charts, graphs, tables etc. to assist department with continuous quality improvement activities.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting for up to seven hours per day, three hours at a time. Frequently uses fingers for typing, data entry etc. Frequent use of hands. Extensively uses mouse as a computer entry device. May require occasional standing and walking for up to 4 hours per day. Stoops, bends or reaches shoulder level. Spends considerable time viewing computer screen. Must have ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation and see as it relates to general vision. Uses upper extremities to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

EDUCATION:
RN required. BSN preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
RN with preferable CV surgery experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of health information and/or quality management experience preferred.
