Trainer and resource person to Beaumont Laboratory employees in all aspects of sample handling/processing, creating/updating of patient medical records in EPIC and Soft computer systems, test ordering, unique client needs and problem resolution of all kinds. Additionally acts as a resource person for clinical labs and send out labs that need assistance locating missing/problem samples and clarifying client requests/orders in unique situations.
Acts as a team leader for various work teams. Assists in gathering and compiling productivity and quality improvement data.
Perform laboratory registration process per corporate registration guidelines.
Accurately order tests requested by clients into the laboratory computer systems. Accurately label patient samples and manually process samples as necessary (centrifuge, separate aliquot) track specimens from ordering location to testing destination; resolve order issues once client services has clarified/corrected information.
Train Outreach Laboratory Registrars with regard to department policies/procedures for specimen handling, processing, data entry into laboratory information systems, safety/universal precautions, confidentiality, meeting CAP and ISO standards.
Assist with daily/nightly workload as needed by performing all laboratory Registrar work responsibilities.
At request of supervisor, will provide minor Root Cause reviews with employees.
Assist supervisor/lab coordinator in monitoring workflow and delegating work.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum 1 - 1 1/2 years experience ordering/processing all lab tests
Excellent customer service, organization and communication skills
Ability to multi task
Previous preceptor/training experience
