$5,745 - $6,703 / month

The candidate that is selected for this position may be granted moving allowance provisions in accordance with Human Resource Policy 14.4.
Summary of Work
National Bridge Inspection Program (NBIP):
Work with the district bridge inspectors and provide quality control of district bridge inspections to verify inspections are complete, consistent, and accurate. Assist with annual National Bridge Inventory (NBI) reporting to FHWA, assist with development of annual refresher training for District bridge inspection personnel, assist with coordination and training of certified bridge inspectors. Approximately 50 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Assist with the Bridge Preservation Program. Work with Districts on implementing and improving bridge preservation activities, products and methods. Approximately 30 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Utilize AASHTOWare Bridge Management System (BrM) software to enter data, perform cost benefit and life cycle analysis, and create reports, charts, and graphs to assist in the management of structural assets. Maintain as-built plans. Utilize GIS to create inventory maps for planning purposes, update bridge inventory book and county bridge maps. Approximately 10 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Load rate structures on the state and local system to its safe load carrying capacity utilizing AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) software in accordance with the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation (MBE). Ensure load rating is in compliance with the Metrics for the Oversight of the National Bridge Inspection Program; process overload permits using BrR; review requests for 129K lb load implementation; re-load rate structures on the state and local system with a perceived change in structural capacity. Approximately 10 percent of the time will be spent on this duty.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering; four years of professional-level engineering work experience; and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
(Underfill-Transportation Engineer II) Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering and two years of professional-level engineering work experience. Also requires eligibility to write the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Requires a class D driver’s license for travel to meetings and project locations; lifting up to 20 pounds or ability to carry several items with a total weight of 20 pounds.
Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
