Creative Dining Services and Kalamazoo College Dining Services is accepting applications for a full-time Lead Barista to work in the evenings at the Book Club Coffee Shop. The Lead Barista directs coffee shop personnel, including full-time, part-time, college, and high school student employees, follows company, state, and federal guidelines and standards regarding safety and sanitation, and ensures the quality of all service related functions by training and assisting service personnel.

Core Responsibilities of the Lead Barista:
Provide service to the customers in a positive, friendly, helpful manner
Work your scheduled shift, attending work in your proper uniform
Punch in and out on time, as well as punching out for breaks
Practice good hygiene and grooming. This includes taking care of your uniform
Train new service employees and student employees
Implement and follow cleaning and sanitation procedures according to company, state, and federal guidelines and standards regarding safety and sanitation
Communicates to all production staff and front of the house staff any problems
Assist the Service Manager with all aspects of service
Assist in setting up all serving lines in a timely and organized manner
Supervise student employees and lead by example with a professional, positive demeanor
Assist in decorating the front of the house
Assist the Service Manager in supervising employees
Assist the Service Manager with scheduling
Utilize proper portion control techniques as explained by cooks and management
Assist with special events and catering events as assigned
Assist with conflict resolution between employees
Read all items routinely posted for your benefit, as well as safety, sanitation guidelines and laws
All other duties as assigned by management
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Two year minimum barista and supervisor experience
High school diploma, secondary education helpful
Ability to deal with stress and pressure
Basic Computer Knowledge
Physical Demands/Work Environment
The Service Supervisor position involves physical work in a commercial kitchen environment. Responsibilities include moving inventory, product, carts, tables, etc. as well as using kitchen utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. Environment may include hot, humid, or cold temperatures. May require extended working hours at times. Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs.
