As the Senior Mine Engineer at Jerritt Canyon you will have the following General Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning and design both long and short term mine development and production. Ensure that these designs conform to federal, state and corporate safety and health regulations.
Assist with accurate and timely forecasting and budgeting information to management that ensures the mine meets its operational goals.
Provide other assessments with regard to mine ventilation, backfill and de-watering.
Provide design information for mining and support teams. Interact with mine geology in regards to planning and forecasting issues to ensure that grade is balanced and dilution is minimized.
Provide direction to surveyors and mine technicians with respect to mine design and planning in order to provide efficient and cost effective mining.
Manage special projects (raise boring, de-watering, well drilling, etc.)
Support programs that measure performance and optimization of mine systems and costs.
Monitor operational costs and assist with input for controlling these costs with respect to specific mine budgets.
Adhere to developed standards for engineering functions and operations.
Any/all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
The qualified Senior Mine engineer will have the following requirements:
Ability to work well within a team
Ability to interface effectively with peers and senior management
Good workload management.
5 to 7 years of previous Mine engineering experience in hard rock mining
Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written
Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
