Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit agency serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organ and tissue used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.
We have an excellent part/full time paid internship opportunity for college students majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Public Policy or a related field. The Public Affairs Co-op positions support communications, educational programs, government outreach, sponsorship opportunities and special events. Our outreach efforts include working regularly with major media outlets, creating content for nearly 55,000 Facebook followers, and producing numerous special events, including our Donor Dash walk and run that attracts more than 10,000 people each year. These efforts are designed to increase public awareness of and commitment to organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the general public and multicultural audiences.
The Communications Intern supports the department’s ongoing communications, educational programs, and special events. These efforts are designed to increase public awareness of and commitment to organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the general public and multi-cultural audiences.
Develop and write content for social media platforms, newsletter articles, stories, and press releases
Contribute new creative ideas to the digital marketing team
Keep up with social media trends and implement trends on Gift of Life Donor Program social media accounts
Assist in content management and development for donors1.org
Assist with photo and video shoots
Write media alerts and assist with media follow up
Assist in development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms
Research reporter contacts and create media lists
Write copy for marketing materials and support collateral design and production
Monitor media coverage
Successful candidates will possess:
professional writing and interpersonal communications skills
a passion for social media and digital marketing trends
the ability to work with a diverse group of volunteers
experience working in a professional office environment
the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and set up displays/tables
the ability to travel throughout the Gift of Life service area for special events
the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Microsoft Office competencies including PowerPoint and Excel
public speaking and community outreach experience preferred
social media platform, media relations experience, and the ability to speak Spanish a plus
